| In December of 1983, a handful
of believers began a pilgrimage that would inevitably lead them
to some of the greatest days of victory that they would ever
know. The following September (1984) the Tom Wagoner family
would join this effort, still in its infancy. From humble
beginnings in a storefront building located at 406 East
Cumberland Street (old Daily Record building) in Dunn to almost
28 acres of property in the Plain View community, God has
blessed this young church. Hundreds of people have professed
Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and determined to follow Him.
Attendance has grown from approximately 20 to over 800 weekly
at Central. To accommodate the explosive growth at Central, a
new multi-purpose building, "The Tabernacle", was built which
seats 1100 and provides fellowship space.
Central Baptist Church is truly a church that endeavors to
minister to every person in this community and surrounding
areas. Central continues to have an effective ministry to the
students at nearby Campbell University. Though the past has been
glorious, this church looks to the future with great
anticipation and faith as it experiences God.
