Preschool

Infants - age 5

The Preschool Ministry at Central Baptist Church is one of our greatest ministry opportunities. On Sundays and Wednesdays, the nursery of our church is open for families to bring their children. We provide a nursery for infants through age 5 (pre-kindergarten) during our Sunday services at 10am and 6pm as well as interactive times to learn about God’s Word in Sunday School at 9am and Wednesdays at 6:30pm.

Not just a babysitting service, we believe it is possible to share the love of Christ with a child from the day of his/her birth. We are proud of our Preschool and the loving volunteers who faithfully serve whenever childcare is needed.

Your child is very special to us. We do our utmost to provide the loving care he or she deserves. Please contact Bekah McCray if you have any questions: (910) 890-5299.

Your Child Is Very Special To Us

Our Purpose

To Help Each Child…

  • Feel comfortable, happy, loved, and secure
  • Feel secure with adults and other children in various situations
  • Begin to associate God with feelings of love and happiness
  • Want to talk with God in a childlike way
  • Feel that Jesus loves him/her and others
  • Think of the Bible as a special Book, become familiar with it, and enjoy the Bible stories related to his/her
Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Each service you are asked to check in your child and use any necessary stickers. We use a touchscreen check-in system. You simply enter the last 4 digits of your phone number and choose the children you are checking in. A volunteer can help add you to the system if this is your first time. A name label will print for each child, as well as a security tag for you to hold on to. The name label and security tag have a matching code that volunteers will use to verify which child belongs to whom at pick up. Volunteers will make sure they have your correct cell phone number to contact you if necessary during the service.

Information sheets are also available for infants, so that we know your child’s particular routine and needs to properly care for him or her.

To reduce congestion in our nursery area, we ask that only one parent come to the preschool room to retrieve your child. Please note: no siblings will be allowed in the nursery rooms. No child will be released to a sibling at any time.

Please pick up your child immediately following the end of the service. Children will not be released to anyone without turning in the security tag.

Diaper Bag Suggestions

When you bring your baby, please include the following items in your diaper bag:

  • 3 to 4 disposable diapers or training pants
  • a bottle
  • a bib
  • a complete change of clothes
  • a pacifier (if used)
  • any special foods

Please label all of your child’s belongings. (i.e. diaper bag, bottle, sippy cup, pacifier, etc.)

A nursing mother’s room is available for your convenience. Please also feel free to utilize any of the rooms in the preschool department. Bekah & Jennifer would love to assist you in any way.

Snacks

Infants will be fed only what you give us.  Toddlers and older preschoolers may be given water, juice, cheerios, crackers, or cookies.  Please keep the preschool aware of any allergies, etc. so that we may continue to provide a safe environment for your child.

Illness

In order to protect all children, please do not leave your child if they have had an infectious running nose, cold symptoms, a rash of any kind, a fever, vomiting or diarrhea in the past 48 hours.  This is for the welfare of your child and protection for all our children. **We do have a nurse on call should the need arise.**

FYI

The maintenance staff cleans and sanitizes the floors, rooms, halls, and restrooms weekly. Cribs, walkers, and toys are sanitized after each service. Cloth toys and blankets used during a service are washed before using again. Clean crib sheets are applied after each service.

Nursery Volunteer Program

If you are a parent or guardian of a preschooler, not serving in other areas of the church, we want to encourage you to participate in our Nursery Volunteer Program. This is a one service a month commitment.

The Nursery Volunteer Program is always open for new volunteers from middle school to senior adults. (Teens are asked to help with the annual Judgement House Childcare before being added to the monthly rotation.)

This program stresses involvement with the children.  The experience will help you develop skills in sharing spiritual values with the children of our church and will be valuable in your personal home/family relationships.

CBC uses Ministry Safe, a video training program for all who provide love and care to your child in our Preschool Department.  Background checks are required of everyone for the protection of the children.
